A good shoot day can fill your website, Google profile and social media for months. A little preparation makes the difference between a few nice photos and a library you'll actually use.
Start with where the photos will go
List the places you need images: homepage, each service page, about page, Google Business Profile, social posts, adverts, print. Each one needs different shapes and subjects, from wide landscape banners to vertical shots for reels.
Build a shot list
- Team portraits, individually and together
- People at work, not just posing
- Your premises, inside and out
- Vans, equipment and signage
- Products and details
- Finished jobs or happy customers, with permission
Prepare the space
- Tidy and declutter
- Check branded items are clean and visible
- Turn on lights and open blinds
- Plan for quiet moments if you're open to the public
Clothing
Branded workwear is ideal. Otherwise, plain colours that suit your brand work better than busy patterns or big logos from other brands.
Timing and video
Morning light is often kindest. If you want video too, plan it in the same day: short clips of work in progress make great reels and website loops.
After the shoot
Use the photos everywhere: replace stock images, update your Google profile, and plan a month of posts. Real images build trust far faster than stock.
